Where did it all start?

Where did it all start?

As a student, studying miles away from family we often are worried of our parents, friends and family's heath, starting from knowing if grandpa took his daily meds to knowing if brother is over using headphones or if mom took her meds on time, or to check if our friends needs help with therapy. The worst scenario we though was what if we were too late to help them?. This ignited a journey to find solution catering to these challenges.

Oppurtunity

Oppurtunity

  • 41% of adults currently have debt due to medical or dental bills, indicating a significant financial strain on individuals and families.

  • Delayed healthcare and high medical costs are prevalent issues, as highlighted by the data, which can lead to serious health complications if not addressed.

  • There is a critical need for solutions that improve care management and communication for families, helping to reduce emotional and financial burdens.

  • By addressing these challenges, we can prevent serious complications, avoid unnecessary costs, and ensure peace of mind and better health outcomes for all involved.

Card Sorting

Card Sorting

As the UX researcher, my role was to gather insights to guide the design process. We used Card Sorting (both open and closed) as our primary method, involving two participants, with UXtweak as our tool.

Research Objectives:

  1. To understand user mental models and preferences regarding the information architecture of the product.

  2. To identify patterns and categories for organizing content and features within the product.

  3. To inform the design process by uncovering user expectations and preferences.

By analyzing users' natural grouping patterns, content affinities, and areas of confusion, we refined the information architecture to better align with users' mental models and enhance usability.

Crafting Problem Statement

Crafting Problem Statement

Design a health-tracking app feature set that enables users to seamlessly track vital signs, manage multiple user connections with invitation capabilities, engage in social nudges, manage reports and medications, request emergency assistance, and utilize audio notifications for accessibility. Additionally, the app should allow users to monitor their own and their friends' sleep patterns. The research aims to understand user mental models and preferences for information architecture, identify effective content and feature organization, and inform the design by uncovering user expectations and needs.

Estimated Impact Created

Estimated Impact Created

After building this prototype we looked back on the goals and opportunity  that this design and prototype, could potentially have if deployed, and launched on iOS mobile platforms

  1. Implementation of the emergency interface can help in tracking abnormal heartbeats, and save lives on time

  2. Monitoring sleep patterns and other vital signs can serve as a valuable tool for indirectly gauging the mental health and overall well-being of loved ones, thus addressing issues such as suicide rates and mental health crises.

UI Improvements

UI Improvements

1. Further develop the emergency interface, for its better usage
2. Integrate the chat feature within the app, to communicate with the family directly
3. Improve the medical record UI by giving the ability to grab information from a single report added and update it automatically, in the health vitals
4. UI to collaborate with a family doctor directly via the app
